Hi MJ...

Dearest MJ,

Hi! I am your dad.
MJ, I am your father
My name is René. My middle name is Christian. As I write this to you right now, I am 31 years old. My birthday is on January 9th, I was born in 1981, here in Montreal.

There is so much I want to tell you, but I don't know if you understand what I'm saying right now. At this time, you are 8 and a half months old. You have 6 teeth popping out already. You can already climb a full flight of stairs. You have started eating 3 square meals of solid food plus your bottles of Alimentum; you have an intolerance for cow's milk protein. You have a drool rash on your cheeks that make it look like you have rosy cheeks, just like your mother. You have a cute button nose and almond-shaped eyes, just like your mother. You also have a sense of determination that seems unbreakable and a thirst for adventure, just like your mother.

Which leads me to the most important person in our lives, your mother.
MJ, this is your beautiful mother
As you probably know by now, she is an incredible human being. She is the most beautiful person I know. Her name is Sharon. Her middle name is Jennifer. She is 29 years old, 5'1", and people have a hard time figuring out her nationality. She is a mix of Spanish, Chinese, and  mostly Filipino. She is currently on maternity leave and trying to figure out what to do for her career; she is not returning to her place of employment because it is a hell-hole.

Your mother and I have been through a lot together, and that includes the adventure of your mother being pregnant with you. Your mother made a wonderful post of it here, and I'll be talking about it too in later posts.

So, this blog is really for you to read later on. If you want. I'll tell you what I've learned through my many mistakes on this crazy adventure called life. It's quite possible that what I tell you is WRONG, but my hope is that this blog might help you as you make your own mistakes as you grow. In fact, it's quite possible that what constitutes as a mistake for me might not be a mistake for you. Life is funny that way. For now, just know that it's ok to make mistakes, as long as you learn from them. It's ok to fail as long as you keep on trying. It's ok to fall as long as you get back up. You need to if you really want to live.

I don't know much, but what I do know is that I love you. You are a miracle and I am so blessed to have you in my life. Even Especially when you refuse to sleep in your crib.

Love,

-Dad
